Gabbings of a Globetrotter
Not All Those That Wander Are Lost.
Growing up, I was taught that the best way to learn about the world was to experience it first hand, which meant traveling as much as possible. Luckily, I have a mom who works in the airline industry so hopping on a plane and heading to a far-off place was easy (as long as you don’t mind flying standby). My parents would take my siblings and me anywhere and everywhere, no matter our ages. At four years of age, I was sitting atop a camel in Egypt. In elementary school, while my friends were off to summer camps, I was spending the summer riding horses in Scotland or in junior high I was going on bike tours throughout France. After graduating college, I spent four months traveling across Europe instead of jumping right into my chosen career path, all the while immersing myself in the local culture.
Now that I have started my career, I still travel whenever I get a chance and keep my eyes peeled for my next adventure. What I love most about traveling to a new place is not seeing the historical sights and tourist attractions, but meeting the people and, best of all, eating the food. There is nothing better than finding a spot where only the locals go and eating the way they do. To say I like to eat, would be a profound understatement. In fact, my appetite is an ongoing topic of conversation among my friends.
I apply this sense of adventure to my work by building innovative brand strategies and finding new ways of rolling them out for our clients. Taking pointers from the places I have been, I am reminded to never settle for ordinary and always aim to be different. Acting as a sort of “travel guide,” I help determine what is the best path for my clients and how they can be successful in launching their next campaign. So, where to next?
